Hello, --

When I saw a headline the other day that read, "The End Of The World Is Canceled" I took a deep breath of relief. 

Although I've been sharing with you most of this year that the end of the world the Mayans predicted was an internal issue rather than a world cataclysm, we never stop benefiting from reassurance that all will be well, it's a human need to feel safe.

We've certainly seen the dramatic life-changing events of recent weeks through new eyes.  Hurricane Sandy, the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school are more than a little heartache. 

These are challenging days. 

What would change if you knew beyond all doubt that the very suffering you are going through offers you the path to more love, joy, sharing and connection than I could possibly describe?

Someone explained to me how caterpillars dissolve when they go into the cocoon to transform.  Their bodies become a kind of soup that then reforms into the shape of the adult butterfly. Then when they fight their way out of the cocoon it gives them blood flow to their wings so they can take off.

No wonder so many people love butterflies, hmm?  What does that have to do with your pain and a promise you might ask? 

I don't know if it hurts to dissolve, but it must be a wild feeling.  From what some of you have been sharing with me, you can relate to the sense that the world you know is crumbling around you.

Jobs lost, relationships over, children turning on you - all the things you thought you could count on slipping through your fingers.

Here is the thing, when the caterpillar turns into soup it brews for a short while before one or two of the cells called 'the imaginal cells' start forming the butterfly.  Only then do the other cells know what to do and start falling into line to create the butterfly.

This is where you come in, or rather your pain.  That hurt is where the dissolve is going on inside you, clearing the way for the imaginal cells to start rebuilding from scratch what else is possible instead of what was. 

Your pain is where limitations are dissolving and that pain is unique to you.  The powerful part is when we take our focus off of what we are letting go of and get quiet within ourselves in the 'soup', trusting the imaginal cells will come to lead the way.  The more pain, the more transformation - it always balances.

The first step to any change is to let go.  Stop struggling, fighting the change, judging yourself or those around you.  Just let go and breathe.  Step back and know that this is going to be all right.   The end of the world is canceled - it's transformation taking place instead.

You straight heart lines and head lines are going to have a little bit more of a challenge stopping and letting go.  It gets easier with practice. 

You curved heart and head lines probably shine at the stopping and letting go part.  However staying with the feelings and letting them show you a bigger message is a bigger effort for you.  It's too easy for you to race on to what is possible before the soup is finished brewing. 

We will get there though...

Life finds a way. 

From 12/12/12 through 12/21/12 we have a window that amplifies things.  It's kind of a loud speaker cosmically speaking.  So what you focus on gets turned up. 

The tougher emotions are part of our survival system.  They work to buffer us against loss and risk of all kinds.  But they are sneaky.  If they can, they will have us focusing on the worst case, rather than on all the power behind the possible risk or loss.

I'm here to remind you of what's on the other side.  We can let our emotions roll through us - I understand it takes roughly ten minutes for feelings to travel through our body and out the nerve endings.  So take ten, let the wave roll and then trust what waits on the other side.

A bigger us, an us that can soar to the heights of our dreams.  It's the magic season.  When we let go of what has bloomed and faded and stay still for a short while.  Then watch for our own version of spring... and rest.
