Grateful For The Truth In Our Hands

Happy Thanksgiving,

Did you know one of the primary reasons we have a brain is to run our bodies?  That body that will be stuffed with food, connect with friends or family and deal with the stresses of the holiday?

I know the great DesCartes said 'I think, therefore I am'.  But the truth is the difference between thinking or the dreams you dream at night is less than you might think.

It's in the combination of feeling, thinking then ACTION that we move into the realm of NOW and access the power we have available to us to make our holiday season more of what we want.  Isn't that a good goal?

Power starts with a feeling, we refine it with our thoughts and then anchor it with action for the most powerful expression of us.  And feeling powerful can change any dynamic...

With all the intense Astrological activity leading up to the winter solstice, or the end of the Mayan long count on December 21st, many people are struggling to feel grateful this year.

What can make a difference is small, simple really.  It's tapping into our actions to help you shift.

For example, my family is a group of strong-willed, verbal smartie-pants.  Which means there are frequent disagreements no matter how much we love each other.  Someone came up with the bright idea to get the nerf guns that my nephews play with, add a few more to be sure everyone is armed and stage a mock battle for the holiday kick off.

Instead of a contest of wills that leads to battle royal(s) over dinner, we have a huge nerf war with occasional switching of sides, opportunistic kill shots and tons of laughter.  It moves the energy through our bodies and out in harmless ways.

Now that may not be possible for everyone (or even recommended without proper eye wear).  Still, you can find a way to take the emotions that holidays kick up and move them through your body.

Even the good ones feel stronger when linked with an action that feels right.  When you say thank you, perhaps you can add a touch.  Sooth yourself with a hand on your heart or belly, a grateful pat can make a difference.

Plus your breath work is always available to you - no matter what situation you find yourself in - after all, it's cheap, legal and everyone else is breathing too, so they won't notice!

As a refresher for you who haven't thought of it in a while and for all you newbies on the mailing list - this is what 'Breath Of Love' can do for you.

You want to flip the switch in your brains from unconscious to conscious, which is where we learn and take in information best.  It's the part that knows we are more powerful than we 'think'.

To access that power you simply exhale - interrupt your breath cycle and just exhale all the way out, squeezing all the air out. Pancake those lungs!  That switches your conscious into command central.

From there take a couple of deep breaths, thinking 'I am safe' on the inhale and 'I am loved' on the exhale.  By tuning into your breath you bring your anxiety down and can deal more effectively with anything that is coming up.

Because breath is the most primary need we have for survival and giving yourself your undivided attention for a couple breaths is a powerful reframe for any circumstances.

So here's  wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving - I'm off to choose my team, Mom's got a great killer instinct but Dad is a better blocker.  HMMM...
